Hey there... we are thinking about buying into 1-800-tow-truck in the richardson texas area.. Does anybody tow for them and know anything about them? please advise!

Your telling us 1-800- tow- truck is a scam but i don't hear any reasoning behind it! Why do you say that?

They are a scam. I took their calls for a while. They tell you not to give the customer a receipt or tell them the charges. I found out why when I asked a customer how much 1800towtruck charged them for a 15 mile tow and they said 250.00. I was only getting 95.00 from 1800TT. So what I started doing after that was tell the customer to cancel the call and I charged them my regular rate which was 1/3 of what they were being charged. I have my own 800 number I don't need theirs. It's bad enough people break down then they get charged 3 times what it should cost and that does not sit right with me. I know I would not want to taken advantage of like that. You don't have to wait for payment from 1800 TT since they give you a credit card by phone at the time of dispatch. But why should they make 2or3 times the amount they pay and I do all the work. So in essence you make a little money from them but they make a lot off using you to do all the work while they get most of the money.
wow....thank you for the imput. I really wish you had made this entry earlier...unfortunately we already made the 700.00 pymnt for the year!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now were really a little scared!! 
700.00 ???? As in SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS??????????? 
Last I heard it was 100.00 per area.

What a drag that you already made the payment. Like Towlady says,can you stop it? It is much cheaper to get an 800 number thru AT&T. I got mine thru AT&T and it only costs me about 300.00 per year if that. I am wary of things that sound to good to be true. They usually are not good at all. I check every thing out real good before I pay out any money. 1800TT is just a big scam geared toward making them rich. The thing that made me question them was the fact they said "do not tell the customer the amount of the tow and do not give them a receipt." That sent an alarm off in my head. It was like Why? the why is because they were ripping the customer off. I would hate to think that the customer thought my company was charging them that much. Sure wouldn't get any referrals that way or repeat customers. I advised all 1800TT customers to get different towing insurance because they were being taken to the cleaners.
