hi, could anyone tell me if it is right for a motorclub to debit your account to pay for damages to a customer's vehicle even if the motorclub knew that it wasn't the towing company's fault? I know it is not right I just want to know if anyone would feel the same way.

thanks,
jaycie  :(

CCAS is good for doing that, it does'nt matter whos fault. The older CCAS handbook never mentioned debiting your payments, although they tried and they would give in if you stood your ground. Their newer handbook now states if a damage claim is unresolved they can debit your check, this means if your insurance denies the claim they can still debit your check.
Legally i don't think they can, if anything they can only with hold payment for the service for the damage claim in question and its more a civil matter, otherwise their debiting money from unrelated completed services.

thanks for responding  ;) ,
is there anything that I can do to fight this because they've done this twice already.  They've also done this to another towing company down here-fortunately they don't seem to deal with them anymore.
When I get that debit letter from ccas I try to call them about it but no one answers their phone and no one returns calls or emails.  It is all so frustrating. It seems that with their new handbook, there is nothing that can be done to protect yourself from claims that are not caused by the towing company.
We've been dealing with them for about three years now and I am at the point where I want to just scream at them.  There must be something that can be done to regulate THIS crooked motorclub.  I've also discussed this with someone else and from what he says it seems to him that ccas is really shady.  Someone really needs to put them in check.  None of this is right and they shouldn't have the right to do this to anyone.
Thanks for letting me vent,  I hope you all have a nice Fourth of July weekend. :unclesam:

This is one of the reasons we don't sign contracts with motorclubs. We also insist on immediate payment with a credit card; something they are all capable of doing.

Even without contracts, some clubs try to pay less that our going rate, and CCAS is one of the biggest offenders.

Sorry can't be more helpful..  :kungfu:

Well heres how i solved my ccas problem, I dropped them when they would'nt talk or discuss a rate increase to offset the fuel cost. We did roughly 300 calls amonth for them, now we only do secondary tows for them.
