Well I see it coming fuel is at $3.50 plus
So what have the MCs done for us as sub contractors ??
My cost just for one truck went up over $200 a mo...
The MCs really need to step up and add some money to the tow ....
What have they said to you ???
No new increases due to fuel costs anytime soon is the word I'm getting.
MC's contract out for a price and now at the end of the year if they can stay within their budget they get to keep the leftovers as a bonus for themselves. They are not at all concerned about you or your business making money.
Best bet, get away from MC as a primary source of income. I did, and although I still will run a few calls, its only if I KNOW I will make money on it. I can't stress this enough, but its better to have your truck sit and make no money than to go out and lose money.
I wish I could still get Deisel for $3.50, Here in the greater Seattle area its around $3.80 I agree thought, If everyone turns away the MC work then they will have to call back and pay retail.
I agree. I called all my 16 motorclubs and told them that I wasn't interested in volume anymore. I wanted to raise my rates even if I wasn't the first one called. GE raised my rates hugely! I love the one per week calls! I made tuns of money! But then I accepted EVERY call they threw at me. With eroute mileage set high, I was getting above $85 hook for some calls! When I accepted every call, my performance got better, almost 100%. So now I get about 2 - 5 calls/day!
I did this with some other motor clubs and now I make some coin off them! I dropped the dickheads at a few other companies. before I turned down a USAC call, I would "take the info", phone number, address, name, then I would turn down the call. before that I would ask the rep what the next closest ETA was, they'd say 1 to 3 hours. Then I'd say no thank you and call the customer direct as a "follow-up call. tell them that I could be there in 30 minutes, charge a little more than the club was paying, but I got paid right away and they could submit for reimbursement. I always took great care of a customer when they accepted. But now after experience, Its a wast of my time and I droped crud motor clubs that won't pay and I don't have to do any of that extra work.
hey, they do what ever it takes to get you to go on that discount tow, even lie to us about payment and extra charges, so....I gave back what I got!
when they finnaly realize that towing a vehicle across town for thirty dollars is what it actualy cost us in fuel and driver time, hell what am i saying NO THEY WILL NEVER compesate a fuel sur charge all auto clubs is lowerst price only you will waste more in fuel than you will gain in prophit on mc calls tell them to get
!!!!
4.00 and still no help
DEAR SAFFARI: The only way the price of fuel is going to come down or at least level off is if we as towing professionals join up ith the OOIDA and others and join the nationwide truckers strike scheduled for 04-02-08 . Politicians love headlines and with this being an election year bet your next tow that if both long haul owner operator truckers and us as towing professionals went on strike. Obama, Clinton and all the rest would take notice and something would happen. Read the articles on OOIDA's home page. I will tell you this on the second of April I'm pulling the brakes and joining the strike. Let the wrecks stay on the highway.
