I got a good laugh from a rate contract that was sent to me a motor club the other day. They actually wanted me to agree to charge $35 for a hookup and then give their customer 10 free towing miles before charging $2.00 a mile!

I don't know about the rest of your areas, but that is a ridiculous proposition for companies here, and I suspect the M/C is well aware of that.

They will continue to pay my 'more than fair' retail rates.  :Oo:

wow if anyone out there can agree to that please contact me asap....i will sell my trucks and sublet all the tows from here on out
$35 seems to be the favorite amount offered to me for tows from MC's.

My theory is that the MC's have researched what it costs to do a tow, and offer an amount low but not so low that it is immediately obvious that it is a losing proposition.

If they can get a newbie to do the tows for 6 months or a year before they wise up they still have made their money. After all there is a constant influx of people buying trucks because of the "big money" in this business.

I've finally learned to let the truck sit until someone calls that is willing to pay an acceptable rate.

Ya know...I'm really surprised that someone hasn't started a Towing Company Motor club. Call it TOTAL motor club. Towing Operators Towing All Liability. And if you use that idea, send the royalty back to me ok?  :D
