i dont know how many of you towers out their deal with ccas.
down here in san antonio i work with a local company that does calls for ccas and every time we get a usaa member it is almost always covered for either 11, 12, 13, miles, now i have a relative thar works for a division branch of usaa and she sent me a copy of a policy and it stated under their roadside assist members would be covered up to $120 dollars at no mileage or up to the full $120 dollars, wondering if any of you other vendors are having this same problem with ccas?

USAA may be selling different towing plans, or giving "free" towing with the policy and offering the $120 plan at extra cost.

The alternative is that the plan may cover miles OR dollars, whichever is lower. I know with what CCAS pays $120 is a pretty long tow. Probably around 35 miles give or take.

CCAS's coverage specs simply state USAA is "covered to policy limits".

Here's the tricky thing: CCAS will never pay the $120 since they only issue (worthless) PO's, and will only write a contract at very low rates. They have contacted me numerous times but have no reliable means of paying my rate. The two PO's I took from them cost more to collect than what I collected.

Before someone jumps on me - yes I know they will pay PO's to their providors. I'd pay you too if I was taking a 60% discount.

Not sure if what I posted makes sense - feel free to ask questions.

well chew on this whenever i am with a customer that has usaa ccas tells them they only cover to the nearest repair facility then add on ten miles to that.
I was online trying to find the USAA coverage limits and something occurred to me ----

It is nearly impossible for CCAS to limit calls by dollar amount. This is because the "dispatchers" do not have ANY access to rates. No way, no how.

So here's the trick. $120 limit. CCAS tells USAA that they will give "$120 worth" of towing. Let's say $75 hook and $3 / mile . That comes to $105 for a 10 mile tow. Add in some paid en-route and there we go, $120 on average (retail rates). Keeping in mind CCAS is paying a fraction of these rates.

CCAS is very careful to not let anyone know what they are actually paying for tows. That is one reason they killed their messege boards - because their vendors (myself included) were posting and discussing their rates, and CCAS's efforts to cut rates.

hey thanks for the info, guess i will just have keep dealing with those idots at ccas, until something gets done about it.
i tried to get to the argosi/ cross country web portion of rates and requirements, it askes for CCAS number and tax number...i got the tax number but whats a CCAS number>>>
Maybe your vendor ID????

im not a vendor of theirs, was trying to see their requirements and pay schedule to possibly apply. the place i work at does them, but theyre tight lipped about the pay scales on the different clubs. plus theyre a little mad at me for buying my own truck, i guess im competition now, even though theyve got 12 trucks, and i got 1 little starter kit wrecker.
