hey im new in the towing game and i was wondering how do u get affileated with AAA? what do u need to become a company for AAA is there any requirements thanks Dan
Before you go forward, understand that AAA generally pays $20 or less per tow. There's a thread here somewhere listing various people's AAA rates, I can't find it right now.
If you really want to, call the 1-800 number and tell them you are a tower and want to be a providor for them, they will put you through to the right people.
You will need to pay up front for a background check, with no gaurantee that they will contract with you. The last time I asked, I think the fee was a couple hundred dollars.
As far as I'm concerned if you are going to tow cheap, you should put a sign in your yard "$30 tows, cash only".NOOOO! Don't do it! ok every 1 is saying dont get into aaa does any 1 have any ideas on how to start thanks dan

The best way to become affiliated with AAA is to have a desire to get up in the middle of the night for $5, have no idea what the operating costs of a towing business are, and to believe everything a salesman tells you. :D
Sorry, couldn't help myself. All kidding aside, AAA does sometimes make since for a towing company, and can even be profitable in some locations.
I would start RIGHT HERE by contacting you local office and finding out who the towing representative is for your area. They should be able to provide you with the application to provide service.
You should always start by determining exactly what it costs you to perform a tow, then you'll know what you need to make to be profitable. Remember, you can negotiate rates; they will try to be low as possible. aaa is very hard to get into right off the bat, also they protect their contractors that they are presently using. try going with other motor clubs that pay better. We started with Alstate, and Cross Country. They pay alittle better.I don't advise towing for AAA but if you want to try calling their 800 number and asking for tower support. With any auto club you want to tow for you must be very persestant. If you are tolded no keep trying. Never give up.
