my friend came over today and he got a AAA call, they said the customer has been waiting for 20 hrs.its only 0 degress out.wonder how long they sat in there car waiting.lmfao

AAA is a joke

20 hours is a lot quicker than I'd show up for a $17 tow.

I got a "membership package" from them in the mail. For something like $50 a year, you are covered for the first 3 miles of a tow.

For the same money you can get towing from Asurion and are covered for 10 miles and they'll pay $50 for that. Still not great coverage but heads and shoulders above AAA for the towers and customers.

How far do you have to tow a AAA customer to get $50? Maybe around 20 miles? (Figuring $2 / mile and the first 3 miles "free").

The cheapest tow I ever quoted was $45. That was for a guy I'm aquainted with in town, to move a rolling truck frame a couple miles.

yea,50 vs 15 sounds way better, well im hurting for cash untill i get my truck,so i went back to my old job, doing AAA calls, its not the best job in the world.i wish i could get my boss to try asurion,or something other than AAA,i heard ccmc gives you 35,thats a little better
I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but I know some regions you cannot service other MC's out of your AAA lettered truck.

There was someone in California I believe that talked about creating a sister company and having a couple of their trucks re-lettered without the AAA graphics so that they could service other MC's.

Don't get me wrong, low margin MC work is the wrong way to go for a truly profitable business. It just happens that I consider AAA to be the bottom of the barrel and others to be somewhat more profitable.

I'm to the point to where when the MC's call on my retail line I charge higher than retail. I've been burned by nearly every one of them and so now they get treated like a "difficult customer" that only gets serviced at a premium.

wow,yea i could see them sayin that cause its there compitition, they dont want tow co.s to go elsewere.
dont see how ccmc is paying $35 they only giving us $25? dont believe what they tell you!

Hmmm posted a reply here a couple days ago and apparently it didn't stick.

I personally refuse to do business with CCAS. But I know a guy that's fairly local that is towing for them and is getting "around" $35 hook. I also have some offers from other motor clubs around $35 hook.

Why is CCAS only paying you $25 hook? Probably because you were willing to work for that. $25 is about what they pay the roadside only guys, and it's a lot easier to make money on a $25 service call than a $25 tow. (Lower vehicle and insurance cost, lower time per customer).

My question is what kind of free miles are you giving away? I would probably make money at $35 hook and $2 enroute and $3 loaded with zero free miles. But throw in 5 or 10 free miles like the MC's like and you might as well park the truck.

Please don't take that as a bash, it isn't intended as such. Just a friendly reminder that you're not in business to tow, you're in business to make money.

yeah i now its low for the amount thats why the owners are getting frustrated with them we are giving ten en route free at 1.50 and five free loaded at 2.00 that sucks compared to what geico or ge. is giving us.
When I was with them I was at 45 hook 2.50 mile loaded 2 inroute only 3 free  and that 3 made me very unhappy....
I know another company does them now for about the same but with more free miles....????

First who waits 20 hours ??? who would wait 2 hours ??? I would NOT.... Rather pay retail and get home....

sheeeesh!!! 20 hours!!!
