Adam, I assume you just started on your own. Be very careful with the MC's, they will offer you rates where you will LITERALLY lose money.

The only motor club that I know will let you set your own rate is Asurion. I have my rate with them at $50 including tax (their coverage limit) and do 10 - 15 tows and service calls a week for them.

Road America is seriously lacking vendors because of their tendancy to not pay PO's. Make sure you are listed on the online yellow pages, and they will call you for work. They pay up to $100 per call, get a CC number and run it before you leave to make sure it's good. DO NOT take their PO's. I highly suggest NOT contracting with them.

USAC, CCAS and GE will offer you crap rates. USAC and CCAS will give you a "take it or leave it" rate. GE will negotiate a little.

Allstate will give you a decent rate, but you need to negotiate for it. They pay a little more because their calls go through an automated system so their costs are lower. Be prepared to deal with irate customers through their automated system.

Here's some you are missing.

Coach Net 800-285-4977 www.coach-net.com Cheap, mostly RV's but some car stuff. Can set your own rates but don't expect volume at decent rates.

USAC www.usacmd.com Cheap, cheap. Expect to get shorted miles. Reps unreachable, no way to resolve problems. No paid en-route in any contracted zips. Keep your area very small.

NAC http://www.nationalautoclub.com/ These guys handle mostly California but have some national accounts, they will pay your rates. OK to deal with.

GE Financial 800-582-6626 www.getowingnetwork.com Cheap, expect to get shorted miles. Hard to understand foreign dispatchers, call customer to confirm information before going out. GE handles Porche, if you have a flatbed and nylon tiedown straps, you can get seperate Porche rates. You have to ask for the rates to be set up, or they will have you haul Porches at standard rates.

State Farm Insurance. Make sure all the local agents know who you are, they will refer their customers to you. Customer pays you and State Farm reimburses. Since they know they are getting reimbursed, there is much less price shopping. I can't think of one State Farm call I lost.

If you aren't set up to take CC's yet, do so. www.propay.com This is the service I use, you can run cards on the road over your cell phone.

If you need any help with the contracts, give me a call 440-653-6165 or Nextel 136*7028*1 Watch the fine print and gotchas in the contracts. Make sure you don't become dependant on MC work, they will drop you in a second if someone cheaper comes along.

Jason your right on the money with all the information. g e will pay with a cc now and they dont haggle because most of the dispatcher are from india and they just want to get off the phone you can also try auto knight motor club they pay with their cc and pay your rates 1-650-596-9680  :thumb:
Will GE pay with a CC if you're a contracted vendor or just if they call you out of the phone book?

I have a contract with them but I hardly take their calls because anything on the highway they short pay.

You bet they will and most of their dispatchers now are from india and they don't argue about prices with you. they have been calling more and more each month now and road america has been getting slower and slower . cross country will also pay with a cc but they have to be real desperate to do it  :hardrock:
Yea, I've asked CCAS for a credit card and they acted like they couldn't do it (did not have CC's). The first (and last) PO I took from CCAS is now about 2 months old and still unpaid. I've contacted them at least 4 times about it so far.

I'm surprised when MC's call me anymore. I don't take an ounce of crap from any of them anymore.

Well GE called me twice Sunday on the retail line. The first time she gave me a CC# right away, the second time the guy had to call me back with a CC#.

It was a good day, I charged their CC $235 for 2 calls.

My theory was there was a big football game and all their contractors took the day off. It was the Browns vs. the Ravens. Several years ago the owner of the Browns moved the team and renamed it the "Ravens". Fortunately I could care less about sports so I was out towing!

Lol jason i like that answer right there at least it is honest and not fake. i like doing those ge calls . they make the world sucha better place when you get paid top dollar to provide a service you know your good at. :hardrock:  :thumb:
