Kids, have you been losing sleep at night worrying that your CCAS call performance might not be meeting their standards? Never fear, you will now be receiving a monthly report via email showing your performace numbers in relationship to your contract requirements, and even to other companies in your region!!
Maybe I have to send them an email reminding them that since the advent of the "Performance Advantage" BS, their calls are dispatched by cost only, not performance. What does it matter to me if my performance is high or low when I get the same calls and the same pay either way?As far as I can tell, neither you nor I, or anyone else we know in this business will ever meet their standards anyway.I cared when they dispatched according to performance numbers. Under the performance rewards system, you could get the work even if you had a higher price.
Now they have switched to a "low bidder" system and the vendor reps set the dispatch order in each area. As long as you give an ETA that is acceptable to them, you get the call. You don't even need to meet the ETA.
I offered to be a backup in some areas that I had dropped under their flatrate system. All I wanted to cover these areas was $30 base and $1 / mile after 5 miles. Put me at the end of the list, I don't care. They would not even put the rate in. Yet they will still call me for these areas and have me turn them down every time because it doesn't pay for me to take them.
I think someone over on "another board" said something like, "I have my own performance rating system, we take work from who will pay for it".
I don't get why these morons think they pay 60% or less of standard rates and we should jump through hoops and beg for the work. I DO have clubs I give low rates to. They call me with LOCAL work and pay their bills. And if they call me for something out of my area, they are calling me for a QUOTE, not to do the work at the bargain rate.I am new here, so I hope I am doing this right (I'm puter stupid). You guys are talking about standards, who cares about their standards, I don't think they have any, except "do it cheaper". I worked for them since about 88, called for a raise on HD last summer, they said no, I quit them on HD. They were calling me on MD, but no LD. I called them, they said my rates were too high, (approved in 04). The rep told me I would have to give them 10 miles enroute free, not gonna happen here, I quit them. One of the standards I have for my business is "profit". If the call is not going to make any money, the truck does even get started. You have to know your cost in order to know if you are making a profit, I like to be able to pay my bills and I sure like to EAT.
???????????????Jim in OKLAHOMAAnd this is why, as of today, the only MC's I do are Geico, GE, and State Farm. Usta be a little anal about insurance billing and wouldn't do, cause some of them won't send you the check and the policy holder might not send you the endorsed check, but I made up a little waiver slip that the policy holder must sign and they get a copy of. Towing charges must be paid in 28 days or they "MUST" remit themselves-(see below). This has worked very well, only had 1 not pay for 90 days later, but after I called them and advised them the next time I would contact them, was when we reported to small claims court and put on their credit report-THEY PAID rather quickly. And if after hours-not able to contact their agent, I get a Creditcard # or signed check and advise them, if the agent said they don't have towing coverage or partial coverage that their card/check will be billed the next business day-works rather well for me! And if they bounce or authorization declined that the rate just doubled (haven't had that problem yet)
