Florida Towing Operator Killed

Larry Lemon, operations manager for Kauff’s Towing and Transportation in Fort Pierce, Fla., was killed Sunday, November 21. Lemon was rushed to Martin Memorial Medical Center, where he later died after an accident in which several cast-iron pipes fell onto him from a Kauff’s Towing and Transportation truck he was unloading at a construction site in Sailfish Point.

A worker at the construction site was also seriously injured in the accident and remains in critical condition.

Lemon had been with the company for 32 years. As of this news posting, memorial and burial services had not been announced. Further updates will be posted as they become available.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Lemon and my prayers to the family of the construction worker in critical condition.

it's always brutal to hear about this stuff.  it's just another reminder about how dangerous our job can be.

RIP driver.

You know its time to start acting on getting government officials to take notice,on how many drivers get killed in our proffession,i recieved another alert of a driver killed back east this morning.we can't stress safety enough, but its not us,its the dummies coming at us.its not like we wear big signs saying hit us.myself have had some close calls in nevada, and california.this really takes my insides and twist'em up in knots, when you hear about drivers being killed,i pray every day to keep drivers safe from harm, even before i go to bed.so lets start replying to this on different safety policies we can put into effect to better us from harm. :help:  :help:
Our Government isn't going to do anything for us, we have to do for ourselves. Make sure you are wearing reflective clothing, light up the area around you, if you are in a tight spot call for backup, put out flares, if you are doing a service call park behind the veh with your truck slightly to the left of the veh. protect yourself, be aware of your surroundings. We have safety meetings once a month and cover various subjects on safety, if you don't do this then you should really think about it no matter how many drivers you have. Practice safety, make it a part of your everyday life, and for safety sake do not take anything for granted. The most important part of our job is to get home safely.
:( i've counted to date from 1993 to present about 145 drivers killed since 1993,but some shot down in the line of towing, also some that died from medical problems.in memory of these 10-33 drivers down range from around the u.s. to canada.our best wishes to all the tow companies, and thier famlies who have lost a loved one.
Here are just a few names,mike wiedman,steve hardin,donnie cruse,allison peters(anueryism),ronald bently,gary lynn resnik,marvin erickson,larry lemon,samuel k.bobbitt,thier memories will live on forever in our hearts.
