As many of you may of heard, Mayor White of Houston has implemented what he calls the Safe Clear program on Houston's freeways. Consumers are up-in-arms because this program forces disabled motorists to pay $75, for the first 5 miles, to be immediately removed from the freeway by the towing company that has purchased that particular zone. Forget changing your tire or using your motoclub; you must be towed by the contract tow immediately. In fact participating trucks are required to arrive in six minutes.

If that's not controversy enough, the city claims that the reason for this program was to keep traffic moving and remove the so-called hazards from the freeway, but if that was the case why did they find it necessary to sell these freeway zones to the highest bidder with a $50,000 minimum?

They successfully excluded many smaller companies from participating in the bid by pricing these zones so high, and now that the program is in place some top officials like Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, are calling for the programs halt and threatening legislative action against the city.

A man got hit by traffic when he saw a tow truck behind his van,the man had run out of gas,and had walked to a gas station, and he was coming back he dropped the gas can and ran into traffic and was killed.
There is a company that has a account in indiana named cars auto body they are a huge huge body and fender company that have a few hundred trucks and they are all top notch trucks no beaters in their fleet. goodness i would  love to own that company  :thud:
Well this comapny cars towing they have 2 trucks that work hnd in hand with the state troppes and the dot workers and they are johnny on the spot when a car breaks down .i think it is a pretty good deal if they have a rotation of 3 days on and 3 days off then a third company to fill that one day spot would be great .
Thanks you agin for the help bill and i like that tipsy towing ideal you have going on over there. companys and law enforcement agencies should set up state  funded or just city funded programs like that on holidays and help save lives instead of trying to get some dui arrests :boo:  :boo:
