I am not sure where to post this so I will probably post in a couple of places. My lead mechanic ran into a sale person of Smartbrake a couple of years ago at the Florida Tow Show. Smartbrakes pitch was that by using their product you not only increase safety, but also will increase the life of the brake linings. We installed the Smartbrake on (2) trucks. One was a Cat 3126 and the other was on a DT466. Guys...Smartbrake was correct. We have seen an increase in brake lining life of up to 4 times. Has anyone else had any luck with the Smartbrake or other methods?
Smartbrake does work very well. It's probably the best exhaust brake you can get since it's modulated and not a simple butterfly brake. A worthy investment.
