I was just in touch with the company i'm going to work for and she said there are screens in the trucks that go thru the internet,does this mean gps systems.i'm just wondering. :brow:  :brow:

That's pretty vague (screens), Perhaps they have some sort of Internet enabled dispatch system.  :kungfu:

It is similiar to having your own email address along with say AOL on a windows formant. AAA is going to start doing this as well. Their MDC's will soon change out to the new software in a couple years. The drivers can now talk to other towing companies, except the calls they have only gives them the calls in their area. They can also talk to their other trucks in their towing company. Pass on memos to dispatchers etc. I also hear that they also have the ability to "tag" into the police computers as well. (not sure if that is close to true... I doubt it)

They are computer generated calls. The call takers often fill out the information, hit enter and send, and from what I hear viola it is already in the truck.

The features I am told has GPS already built in them. I got to use the demos and it was pretty cool and relativly good to use. Hard at first until you get used to it, but one advantage Iliked about the software that was used for AAA, our shop was also able to put down private calls, insurance calls etc without tying up a two way radio or phone. It also had the ability to accept credit cards etc.
