I do impounds. Private property tows. Iwork on a selfloader with a Chevron boom. How do i safely  tow BMW like 745 and up after year 2003 that doesnt have a valet key or how do i disconnect the linkage?
You need two things. First Go-Jacks, second Dollies. Both are an investment that pay off everytime you use them.
One thing with Go-Jaks, never push on the fender, you will dent it. Push against the tire or use the dolly liftbar for leverage.
Having all the right equipment on your truck will save you time, money, and aggrevation.

It took less than three minutes for me to get this one out of a parking spot on a hill with a car in front of it. Just takes practice.

ye i meant if you aren't using the dollies is there a way to disconnect the lincage on it? if u dont have the valet key?
and btw you dont need dollies for that car lol or straps  :D

Really, if your looking to get into the car to disconnect the linkage to impound it, you are:
1. Doing more work than needed
2. Risking damage to some elses car (little plastic grommets like to break.

I have towed several high end BMWs, here's what I have found.
Half are all wheel drive, so instead of putting the car in nuetral, you have to remove the driveshaft, or throw the dollies on it. Which is, in the long run, quicker and easier.
The other half are just rear wheel drive, so just tow them from the rear.

Unless this is a repo, and your looking for a smash and grab way to get the car, get and use the tools of the trade.
You wanted to know how to do it safely, this is how.

BTW I was 1/2 way done uloading this car, so no there are no lights, dolly straps, or saftey chains on this AWD Subaru that was locked in 4H when I grabbed it. It would roll 8 inches then lockup. Hence the dollies.

well that wasnt my question......al im asking just like any suv is there a way to disconnect the lincage on a benz suv with an electric shifter.....the car with the new shifters that doesnt have the actual stick with a knob. i dun get into cars to tow em but sometimes like a X5 or some other 4 whee; drive u gotta disconnect
Hmm, I haven't seen that. I would think that there would have to be a mechanical link to engage or disengage the parking pawl, a solenoid would be more prone to failure.
I'll have to look this one up. Get back with you tomorrow.
