does anyone know if you can use dollies if car has no wheels?
Absolutely. You usually have to adjust the cross-bars closer together, but the dollies will usually center on the brake drum or rotor just like it did on the tire.

Occasionally, you will have a vehicle that doesn't center well in a dolly without tires. This is usually due to low hanging tie-rods or the like. If you tie them down securely, (as you always should) you shouldn't have a problem.

Even when hubs or axles are missing, if you tie-down properly you should be able to tow them on dollies as well.

Remember to lower your speed when using dollies.  :drivin:

allright, thankyou very much for the quick reply.do you happen to know where i could get a good deal on some?
We actually have a member here that sells dollies. Check out THIS POST.

If he can't help, try Zips.com or AwDirect.com, or HERE, or HERE.

I would highly recommend buying the aluminum crossbars. They are much easier to handle and easier on the back.  :D

One more buying recomendation for you. Be sure to buy the dolly bars with TWO little flaps on them. like these:

And avoid the single flap bars like these:

The reason is, the double flap bars give you more ajustability, and a smaller gap in the case of flat tires, or no tires.  :D

Watch Craigslist for dollies, there was a set of simple dollies on there a few days ago, but IMO they were asking too much ($300 I believe).

I picked up my set of used dollies at Automotive Equipment Company in N Ridgeville for under $300 including tax.

Really, for your purposes I might pick up a wide trailer axle and slide it under the back and secure with a couple of chains.

actually i already talked to him.he would have sold them to me for 200 but i decided i wanted the self adjusting dollies.then get the mount for storing under the truck.i'm not driving your typical scrapper tow truck so i don't want to lug around a trailer axle.i just replaced all my steel diamond plate with alluninum plate.i really don't want the old type dollies taking away from the beauty of the alluninum.thankyou very much for your output and your time.
