Hi all,

I was hoping that you might be able to help me with a paper that I'm writing for school on car towings in Connecticut.
What I'm trying to find out is how often automobile owners  park their vehicles on private property without authorization from the owner of the property.  Towings are one way of getting that statistic but unfortunately, I haven't been able to find that information online.  I don't think Connecticut DMV keeps that type of info either.    Might anyone have any ideas or a "guestimate" of what the number might be?

Much thanks!!

Hi Jenn, welcome to ITOW Talk!

That's very hard to answer since every area is quite different. Some cities have better planned their growth and have more ample parking for motorists. In those area there is little problem with private property impounds.

Hopefully a tow operator from Connecticut can lend some insight here.

P.S. It occurs to me that generally (in most states), private impounds are immediately reported to the police so perhaps they would have some statistics on them.

Jenn, ive towed for 15 years and in my years i've towed about 75% of unautherized cars parked on private property, real estate managers that handle property for other owners has been most of them, they what private party individual (ppi's) out here in the west.thats according to me,but i imadgine it varys from state to state.hope this helps. :thumb:  :thumb:
