Hi all first post would like to say hi to everyone. So hi :) ok i have a question. I went to my friends house at about 10 pm and was looking for a parking spot had to be a visitor only spot and i found so i parked in printed clear as day Visitor parking. Im sure you know where im going with this but i come outside and find my car has been towed. There is a small sighn that says reserved parking above it and this sign is not permanent either it looks like a temp placement it does have a con cerate slap with a pice of meatal. Now this is a spot that says vistor parking and a sign saying reserved parking. So do they have the right to tow me since it wasnt any near clearly marked. Thank your very much for your time. and the sad thing is no one was parked in the spot that they had me towed out of  :p kind of harsh for a 2 hour visit for a friend that turns into 275$
Hello V8s10, welcome to ITOW Talk.

In Washington, a no-parking sign that allows a property owner to impound must conform to certain specifications.

WASHINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE CODE WAC 308-61-145
Specifications and posting of signs

(1) Signs shall measure at least 15" by 24" and the lettering thereon shall be clearly visible to all who park.
(2) Signs for publicly owned or controlled parking facilities need to disclose that unauthorized vehicles will be impounded and must also disclose a phone number for redeeming a vehicle. If a registered tow truck operator is used, the signs shall meet the same requirements as in the posting of private nonresidential property. [Statutory Authority: Chapter 46.55 RCW. 86-03-011 (Order DLR-088), § 308-61-145, filed 1/6/86.]

It sounds as if the signs that aprtment posted were small and non compliant which means there's a good chance the apartment can be forced to reimburse your impound expenses.

When you redeemed your vehicle the towing company should of given you an "Opportunity for Hearing" form, if not go back and get one. Take that form and a small filing fee down to the county courthouse and you can file to have a hearing to contest the validity of the impound.

Be sure to take photos of the signs and anything else that you think may help. :thumb:
