J-Hook,

First things first, thanks for giving Sterling a test drive.  Although it seems you had a not so quick delivery I am happy to read that you are pleased so far with the product.  I am a Sterling rep out of Southern California at Carmenita Truck Center and would love to hear your first hand experience with the truck.  If there is anything that I can do to help with the truck myself and Sterling will be here for you.  It is in my interest and Sterling’s best interest to make sure our product is as good as it looks in the brochure as it does on the street.  I understand that many of the people in your industry are unsatisfied with not only International but also the local International dealers, due to the hold they have had in the tow industry as well as the entire medium duty market, I feel as if they are getting complacent with their product and service.  Just imagine being the only tow company in the western states you too could control the game.

I think that Sterling will be the next best thing for the tow industry and the medium duty industry not only for design but for service and performance.  I believe that Sterling is making a point to not only build the Mercedes of the trucking industry, but to back it up as well. I currently have “in stock” your same type of truck, a Sterling Acterra with 210hp Mercedes MBE900 automatic 21’ Jerr-dan BIC, and I wonder if it is something that would appeal to the masses?  I am open to ideas and suggestions with regards to the Sterling product, I personally think it’s the best truck on the market but then again I could be a bit biased.

Hang in there with the new truck  :drivin: and again thanks for giving us a try.

Hello DieselFinder, welcome to ITOW Talk!

Also stock 22.5 tired trucks on the medium duty side, about 80 or so in inventory spread between the brands, and 70 - 80 Ford Super Duty chassis most XL with "rear tanks".

I also have Tow trucks on the used side. F450 XLT DSL Auto Eagle claw (no tunnel box) 60 ca. may have (2) 01 INT 4700 DT466, miles are close to 300k one engine replaced 100k ago. Customer ordered two Sterlings almost done.

I have Both Jerr-dan and Miller Body builders that I do business with about 7 in my local area and a few out side of my area. Between what I have and with there combined help I can meet most demands.

I hope that was "Exact" enough

That's great! thanks.  :thumb:
The truck in general, I love it, looks better than any of the others, the MPG first out of the box 10.4, 10.6 & 9.8-with a 1-ton dually, diesel, crew cab and 38' 5th wheel towed MPG, AWSOME,  imagine what it will be like after break-in, more power than I expected (real nice power curve) and I an even pass on 2-lanes with power to spare, drivers seat (airride) and cab, wonderful, "passenger side of cab-SUCKS for room," but who cares about room-hehe.....The angle of the seat and short bottomed for passengers is kinda uncomfortable, Got the 2-man bench w/storage box (good idea-but fair design with not enough room for much, sloped too much.
There a few bitches however- battery box on drivers side, first step is way too low and makes for a rip the crotch out of yur bitches step up.  And lastly 6-speed manual(didn't have enough guts to go with the automatic) very poor location or shift shaft not bent for any middle passenger room.
Has a little rake in the rear so the front license hangs a bit too low, but looks KEWL (as I have been told by the locals)
Also gain over 2000lbs lightweight but added 2' to the deck
15280 lt wt. guess I'm gonna have to sneak with the heavy ones on.....  I can do that in most cases..... :pimp:
Now we will have to see how the dealer holds up their end of the deal and service in the future.
If the dealer can supply and deliver I would suggest anyone to a Sterling, maybe go a little bit bigger on horsepower if you do more highway speed type work, but the 210hp surprised me!!!!!!!!! :thud:  :drivin:  :happydance:  :thumb:

Sounds good but, pictures man, pictures!
