AAA Membership Renewal Backdating
Chimicles & Tikellis LLP is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers that renewed their memberships with the American Automobile Association (“AAA”). AAA is an organization that sells memberships to motorists across the United States. The AAA membership subscription typically lasts for a period of 12 months.
C&T is investigating reports that when AAA members allow their memberships to lapse and then go to renew their subscription, AAA charges them as though their account was active during the time period when it had lapsed. For example, if an AAA member had a subscription for a 12 month period, failed to renew it at the end of that period, but then renewed it two months later for another 12 months, AAA would allegedly charge the member for the two months during which the subscription lapsed. By allegedly “backdating” the start of the renewal membership to the end of the prior membership, AAA members receive less than the 12 months of renewal membership for which they bargained.
If you have an AAA membership, allowed it to lapse, and were charged for the period during which it lapsed when you renewed your membership, please contact the attorneys below.
