i work as a call receiver at aaa and it's true some of the employees are dumber than dirt.  but also, they're treated like misbehaving children, underpaid, etc.  i've been here over a year, was an excellent worker, but because i agreed to work full time as a temp position, i lost my "permament" status, never have recieved any benefits, raise, vacation and/or sick time.  tho i did receive a letter thanking me for my service.  i applaude you tow drivers giving the finger to aaa.  i'm getting outta here soon and, after looking at this forum, i might not renew my membership.  any of you guys ever heard of "The Better World Club" (an auto service supposedly better than AAA)?
Good for you! :thumb:  There are plenty of employers that do a good job. I don't and never will do work for AAA unless they pay my retail rates and we all now thats not ganna happen! :laughin:
Well  Better World Club, I have heard of them and at one time I heard that they were also providing road service for bicycles.

Now if you are leaving AAA and headed to Better World Club, I guess you are in Portland then..

Hope it all works out good, lots of things can happen though.

:happydance:

I don't trust any motor club! :talktohand:
Hi "Quitting".

As I'm sure you know, a AAA membership isn't worth the member card you get. Basically it comes down to the *very* low rates that they offer their contractors. The contractors then have to find corners to cut to make a profit from a rate that is probably lower than a reasonable cost of doing business.

As far as you looking for a Motor Club, let me say that any company that offers their contractors rates below retail will have problems with good service.

May I suggest a "non" Motor Club. State Farm insurance offers reimbursement for towing and road service. This way you can choose your own towing company and you will receive a retail level of service.

I get a fair number of calls from State Farm customers who are referred to me by State Farm. They already know that they will be reimbursed, so they don't have a problem paying for good service. And I don't have to de-prioritize them below my retail customers like I do the Motor Club customers.

State farm is a real good company! :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

Most of this is true, but what about that $10 a night off hotel rooms. I'm already about $15 ahead of the basis membership fee.
I just got done towing a (AAA plus member) mini pickup truck. I charged him $65 for a 3 to 4 mile tow.

Why didn't he call AAA? In his words "I didn't feel like waiting 2 or 3 hours". And this guy wasn't flush with money.

It may be worthwhile for people that use the travel services to buy a membership, but the towing services are NO deal.

Hey, Your right.
Like you stated in the Motor Club Forum; The guys in your area are getting $14 to go out for AAA. They get what AAA pays for. We are getting about 2.5 times (2.5x14.00)=..... thats really sad. You know that those towers getting $14 didn't sign up recently. That rate is probably 10 or 15 years old.
Like I said in the other forum; They never go up and they'll pay someone else more just to show you who's boss.
We give :30 min to 1 Hr eta's and our/their customers are happy here, for now.
I stated in the other forum that the old provider went bankrupt for AAA doing $22 calls. Why can't they just take care of those who have been taking care of them and their customers (all motor clubs).

You people thing that you are gonna get better service bypurtching road side assistance from your cell phone company or insurance company? What you dont realize is that AAA is gonna dispatch the call any way so you are going through AAA and not knowing it. AAA even does the road side assistance for new cars. Also you people pay like $100 for plus member ship which comes with four 100 mile tows.  Just one 100 mile tow is more than $200 if u were to go directly to the garage yourself.  So stop your complaining. The problem is that they dont pay there gar enough cuz your memberships fees are so low. So they cant contract with every towing garage in the areas that they are in. Also the garages take there time or are over worked because they arnt getting paid alot. You get what you pay for. If you want to pay the same amount for ur mem as one tow then you can get fast prompt service if you want 4 calls for the price of one tow then you get slow service.
