I dont believe in this wreckmaster,i come from the old school.iwatched part of the video and you need this or that to be able upright a truck or car,the real way is to expierience it,not go to school to learn.i'm also being told that in order to get a job towing you better from wreckmaster cert's to tow.thats my personal oppinion.by the time you set up to do the job the police are calling out another company.my time on scene for a roll over was exactly 10 minutes tops.get there get done get going for another. :ko:this just my oppinion  :happydance:
Update to my topic on this subject why is it the truck in the video has no engine and the trailer is empty, they say this saves time but what about the clean-up and money we lose in the process by using our calculator to figure out how were gonna do this job,i've had cops yell at me to hurry up and grab and drag the wreck off the road.
bob that is a real good point you got the trupers in OR, If the tow truck isnt goin fast enough or the trafic backsup so far they will call D.O.T. out with a heavy duty frunt end loader whith a blad on frunt and push the wrecked truck literaly in to the  ditch, off the bank, or wherever els is the quickest place to put it off the road then tell you to un hook and wait for trafic to clear. or even worse call another co. to the scean w/out tellin you and then tell you to let them assist or you go bye bye from the rotation. :thud:  :thud:
:suspect: thats my point ,i'm not saying i disagree with wreckmaster, just that you don't have time to waste on calls.there is an outfit in albuquerque that does the same thing, they bring out a forklift, and frontend loader to clear the scene.crazy.
:thumb: after all my nosing around i've finally decided to go for my certs. from wreckmasters, after being intouch with a former employer in vegas, they told me i could when ever i wanted to,i told them possibly by december,to save money to relocate there.so when december rolls up it'll be "viva las vegas baby" :hardrock:  :hardrock: :happydance:
My thoughts to this? What Wreckmaster teaches is all good, we cannot absorb too much info, granted, to us oldtimers some of it is unnecassary because we were taught to hook and book, watching some of these towers today its no wonder towbills are so high, we charge by the hour and no ones gettin in a hurry, doing it by the book takes more time, creating more revenue. Don't get me wrong, I like to make as much as I can, so I'm not saying cut corners, thats unsafe but still it's kind of like taking your car to the mechanic, they look in a book and the book says it takes an hour, you get charged an hour but it takes 30 min. for them to actually do it.When Wreckmaster makes the video it is done in a set-up situation, not out on the scene, kinda like it's choreographed, so out in the field it does'nt always work but it is still a good basis to start from. Nothing is set in stone, take what you learn, apply it accordingly, make changes when needed. I don't think Mr Cruse would mind.
:hardrock: i agree with this subject, because where i'm gonna be working  up in vegas again, you don't have time to use all those techniques, but i'm always open for more training.metro will chew on your ass if you don't get it done,in the quote of larry the cable guy"geetter doone" :happydance:  :happydance:  :happydance:  :happydance:
Go to w/m class then tell me what u think,I have been towing for a long time and went to my firt w/m class this summer.Beleave me you learn hands on stuff.Forget old school trial and error.YOU NEVER DO IN PUBLIC, YOU DON'T PRACTICE IN PRIVATE.
S C E N E = survey, calculate, explain ,no's, execute
You do that at a recovery, you save time doing the recovery. And maybey a life.

C ya in the ditch!   JEFF

Sorry i'll stick to old school because w/m isn't known in this state and companies here won't hire a w/m driver which i think is stupid but thats the way companies here in new mexico operate here!hell i've got 15+yrs.and still can't get hired this is why i'm retired from towing, unless just by chance a job opens up here in n.m.!
I had never seen this post before. So I'm surprised. :boo: I learned to tow "old school". I went to a wreckmaster class and couldn't believe the safety issues alone that came up. :oh:

Doing the math is half about not abusing your equipment. :headbang: It's not like we're talking about advanced algebra. It's take moments. To KNOW that you're not exceeding your ropes WLL. That's valuable to me.

Everyone knows that it's possible to hook and book, but some of the point of wreckmaster is learning techniques that are easier on your equipment and keep you healthy. :happydance:

What classroom environment isn't set up? You learn it in a controlled environment so you can apply it to the real world. I don't know it all and I'll learn from anybody.
