I gotta' say, Chicago is a hole! We landed at Midway airport and couple miles down Cicero Avenue we saw hookers, pimps, and drug dealers in full swing at 3:00 in the afternoon. It looked like an episode of cops; every six blocks someone was bent over a patrol car with the contents of their pockets being strewn on the hood. And, the garbage that blows through the streets reached three feet high in some corners.

Of course, the whole city wasn't like that but if there was a nice neighborhood, I didn't happen to see it on my trip.

The state itself doesn't seem to be economically thriving. The hotel we stayed at in Waukegan was supposed to have a mall next door, but the mall had been demolished leaving nothing but 30 acres of dirt and a Denny's restaurant. (Oh Yippie)

Maybe I'm just spoiled by living in Washington State but I would not want to live in Illinois. Hell, I don't even want to visit again.

It really is a shock to see that kinda stuff after leaving the great N.W. Growing up in Mt. there is no way I could live in a big city like that. Can you imagine getting a tow in the area you saw at about midnight? Come on over to Butte,Mt in Aug. for Mt. tow show and tear it up with locals should be a great time.
I'll definitely be there. I have relatives in Montana!
Are you trying to say you loved your trip to chicago the great windy city? :sofunny:  :sofunny:  :sofunny: remind me never to go there sounds like the armpit of hell there, are you sure cops wasn't filming the seedy city if chicago?but else wise how was your trip?
It was pretty good otherwise. Glad to see my son. He looks so sharp in that navy uniform.
