What airline do you choose or not choose and why?
Sorry I don't fly anymore. I was on one of the TransWorld dc-10 that was grounded for stress cracks after they had the one with the engine that fell off, and that was a 18 hr flight to Germany. The second bad experience was when my boss and I came back on a flight that had wiring burning, the third strike I would have been out. I take the bus.

Wow! Can't blame you there!
In a previous career I had to fly several times a week for many years, and in July 1993, I had to make an emergency exit after a locked-up brake caused a blowout on the British Airways Concord I had just landed on at London's Heathrow airport. We lost hydraulic pressure and an engine. Good thing we were landing!
Had some other flight re-routed for different reasons but that blowout was pretty hairy!
Not only that the regulations for driving a 18 wheeler are more stringent than it is for airline pilots. I mean when I drove 18 wheeler you were supposed to only drive 10 hours a day and total work with loading and unloading was what 14 hrs. I've heard airline pilots talking about how it was there third flight that day with 18 hrs on the clock, scary.
The regulations are in place. Airline pilots cannot fly more than 100 hours a month or more than 1,000 hours a year and the FAA requires airlines to allow pilots at least 8 hours of uninterrupted rest in the 24 hours before finishing their flight duty.
Whether they do that or not... who knows. I've often considered upgrading from Private Pilot to Commercial Pilot so I could make money doing something I love but I haven't had the time.
