:alien: burn out are one of the worst recovery's i've done!the smell is gut renching to the snoz.the burnt flesh wreeks for days,so what are some of your horror stories?i have another one that will make you chuck . :cryin: my next one will involve a bus load of tourist headless bodies and metro c.s.i. :boo:
:poke: you know a cheep way to cut the smell is to get some spearmint crest toothpast and rub some on your upper lip and it will cut down on the smell a lot. :poke:  :poke:  :poke:  :blues:
How come the fatalities are so interesting to us?  :hardrock: I rarely meet a tow driver that doesn't enjoy doing a fatality. Have you noticed how everyone at the scene has to see the body; fire, police, recovery, everybody.
:boo: there was a call on a friday night, mind you metro is always busy in vegas,so was the coroner!the car was honda civic, should i say murder suicide.the car was off in a small revine,i was in 1995 f350 w/jerr-dan rollback it took everything to winch this little car out!in the mean time the coroner couldn't get to the scene,i had to tow the vehicle with the bodies still in the car.well the car was sealed by metro before transport.well the detective did'nt shut the door very well (car was taken to the csi lab) i was sitting at the light waiting to turn, when i noticed this bus load tourist hurling that is when i saw what the problem was the door had come open.just think shot gun ,ihad to use apush broom to push the one body back into the car,the moral to this you never know what your gonna recover in towing, this was my first on this recovery.. :drivin:  :drivin:
if you keep smelling the burn use menthol, or vicks, rub it just below you nostrals it nutralize the smell
The smell really isn't that bad once you get used to it after awhile, once i found a burned hand left in a car that the medical didn't remove it was pretty cool, guess it can't be as bad finding a severed head under a hood while doing clean-up at an accident, when i arrived they said it was missing.so i picked it up and said "is this what you're looking for" made the police officer heave, and a little green. :boo:
This one didnt burn any bodies but was a pain to work and smelled as bad as any I've ever done.

Never had to deal with charred bodies but have dealt with a car that had 6 people in it and 2 were decapitated from the accident and you would not guess what they hit ? :boo:  :boo:
Have had 2 burn outs in my career, numerous fatalities with 1 decap (found in the storage area behind back seat in a VW bug-starring up at me when putting the tow lights on-scared the hell out of me for a second) however both burns were so long and hot it cooked the smell totally out of the vehicle, a little grusome but we knew the job would have it times like these, and yes all the lookie lou's just drive me up a wall,  they just gotta see the blood and guts, and then near run over us while we are doing our job.........
Would love it if they saw what they wanted and then puck all over their cars interior,  yes I am a little sick minded that way...
YES, like the old Rock & Roll song: "Momma told us there would be days like these", ya think this is what she meant?

The one i had to deal with was none other then a car load of drunk kids at 5 in the morning speeding on the i94 expressway coming around a turn and what did they run into . the rear end of a flatbed tow truck who was soliciting on the highway a customer who hit a guard rail and he stopped in the first lane and not on the shoulder and wham!!!! tow truck was moved about 50 feet away from the scene from the impact 2 people  lost their heads and the rest i don't think will be driving with any more drunks at 5 in the morning anytime soon. the truck to a local company and his driver at the time was trying to sneak in a tow with out the boss knowing. what a way to get busted. we were on location with about 10 mins from when it came over the scanner and i would have hated to be that towing driver.     then take a taxi or become a statistic :rasp:
