I really don't want to sound stupid, but what does recovery mean to you?
That's not stupid. People are always asking me about repossession because of the "recovery" in my business name, but the recovery in my name is for accident recovery. When I was a kid, my fathers company was the only one equipped to perform the deep canyon and cliff recoveries on Weyerhauser's land. We did so many of these and became so well known for complicated recoveries that we added it to our name.
Ok Bill now we are talking the same language. I asked this question because of the comments about flatbed and wheellift recoveries I keep hearing about.Yes I also have used flatbeds for rollovers and minor stuff. When I tell fellow drivers about the cool recovery I just finished it normally would be 10 to however many feet off the road.Thats recovery to me.
We sold my sister one of our towing companies years ago and some of her drivers have never used a winch! Of course she's in a more urban area.
Over the side of the mountain is what the word recovery means to me. Off the road 10 to whatever feet over the side, I do a lot of. I do a lot of rollovers and multicar accidents too, but those only take a few minutes to work and not much effort. Over the side, though, is challenging because you gotta figure out your angles and how many snatchblocks to use and if the car is upside down you gotta figure out how to roll it over so you can pull it. They are my favorite to work and the most rewarding for me. It makes me feel good when I work an over the side and the cops and the fireman go wow, that was a great recovery, especially being a female.
To me recovery is 48,000 pounds scattered in the wodds, you end up working all day just to get to the point of recovering the roll over.   Or you chain the thing toghter, then winch out of the woods or up the hill and hope it all holds toghter.

On the roll back side, using the roll over stick I am gone in 20 minutes, if it is out in the woods, then rigging takes a few minutes as I tape all chain connections, that way you know the hook is still hooked when you engage the winch.

forgot the most important thing,  Recovery = bigger $$$$ than a tow.

Recovery to me is when you arrive on location and our first thought is "Holly $*#t!"  Thats the kind of recoverys I love. The company I work for however considers anything that you can't pull right up to and start hooking a recovery, making for alot of dissapointments when it's not the kind of recovery I had been hoping for.
