About a month ago i came up to a roundabout with a lot of police activity then i could see a truck on its side and a mighty big truck it was as well. So i grabbed for the phone to call my boss John. I told him what i could see and as i passed by i got a shock to see a tank a military tank almost on its roof.

John said we probably wont get the job as the Army will want to do it themselves. I went on to the job i was heading to. I then get a call from the control room asking me to hurry up as we had to attend the Tank job.
I made my way back to base had a cuppa and then headed out to the accident on arrival i got my priorities right (the camera came out)

At this point i thought holy cow or words to that effect if you know what i mean.
A few other guys arrived and John and Andy had made the trailer safe so the traffic could still run on the round about.
Working out what weights we were going to be working and decided that it would be safer to ask for some outside help so john had arranged two mobile cranes capable of lifting 100tons each. We had a big pow wow. This job was going to have to be done in stages.
Stage 1 righting the truck and trailer.
we had to close the goose neck of the trailer and the back of the tractor up so it was all in line. We used the recover crane and had the assistance of the mobile

Next was to get the tuck and trailer on its wheels.

Stage one almost complete the truck and trailer was towed up the road by the army and split the unit from the trailer. The unit was loaded on to another trailer and then cranes rigged up the trailer to be lifted so it can be placed onto another trailer.

Stage 2 The Tank!!!!

John had placed two of the heavy trucks in a field one truck was the MAN with holms 750 and the other was a Mercedes under lift the two trucks where used as restraining winches. The Scania and the DAF was placed on the round about as the main winching trucks.
Bearing in mind that the tank weighs approx 65Ton winching the tank over probably wont be a problem but placing it down in a controlled manor would cause a problem so the mobile cranes would be the safest way to assist the the MAN & Mercedes.

As the tank rolled past its centre of gravity the cranes took over and placed the tank down on the road in a controlled manner. Again it was over to the Army and and they winch the tank on to the trailer ready to be taken.
The whole job went really well and the whole team worked hard but over all i think John needs the biggest thumbs up and pat on the back all the plans worked out and with everyone looking at him it was a good job all round.
