the great state of michigan has mandated a law that includes tow trucks, the law states that because of so many police officers getting killed while assisting motorist, that they have included tow trucks as emergency vehicles, they supposed to start posting signs about moving over when you see anykind of emergency vehicle tow trucks included,so lets hope that other states will see or hear about this new law and they will follow suit with michigan,i've already commented to the detroitnews commuting about and gave my congrats for this.it's a start and maybe more to come.......

I wish they would do that in California. I work on the grapevine in So. Calif. (Interstate 5). It takes forever to get to an accident scene. People won't move over or let you change lanes. I have my lights on , traffic is stopped, they aren't going anywhere until I get to the accident site and they
cut me off, give me the finger, won't let me get by them. Then if I use the shoulder they either cut me off there or follow me on the shoulder. I don't drive around with my rotators on for fun. Seriously , don't they understand that obviously something is blocking the road and it is going anywhere until I get there. They definitley do not move over or slow down when they see a tow truck loading a vehicle on the side of the road. I've had my mirror taken off several times. I never hook a car up on the drivers side. I put 2 tie downs on the passenger side, front and back, then go to the next off ramp to finish tying it down. I never even get in or out of the truck on the driver's side when on the side of the freeway. People drive 75 or 80 miles an hour and zoom by one inch away from the truck. I wear reflective clothing and they still don't pay attention and see me. What do they think that the truck loads the car by itself and there is no tow operator around? California is the worst state for tow operators. Maybe it's because 6 out 10 drivers don't have and have never had a driver's license or training here. They don't even read or speak English so how the heck do they know what the signs on the road say. It's useless to put accident ahead or tow in progress signs behind your vehicle. No one can read them. I hope that Calif. passes a law declaring tow vehicles as emergency vehicles. Maybe then people will give us a little room.
i have been informed that we can get this passed by getting the senate to introduce it into legislature so lets go for it start contacting your local senators, and get this 48 state mandated.
