Counties Vote Themselves the Power to Steal
Cities and counties all over America are doing it, taking cars that they believe to be ugly, dangerous, or a nuisance against the wishes of the owner.
While we all want beautiful neighborhoods, many of these programs cross the line into violation of our rights and the violation of the fair use of own private property.
The cities and counties usually begin by drafting an ordinance that defines a nuisance vehicle. These definitions are very broad and can often apply to many cars currently driving down the highway.
If you have a broken taillight or a crack in your windshield you’re driving a nuisance vehicle according to some counties. Or, if your park your car and let grass grow around it, it might qualify to be towed away. Even one single complaint from a neighbor would allow some counties to remove a vehicle from your property.
Take for example the truck of Master Sgt. Madison Rayford of Bryan Texas. Bryan city officials towed Rayford’s running and driving truck from his own private property because it was “covered in dust, had low tires, and expired tags”. Rayford’s truck was towed to a wrecking yard where it was dissembled and sold. Sgt. Rayford was, and still is deployed in Iraq.
Even on your own private property. Some of these cities and counties will trespass on your private property and steal your car. Oh, that’s right, it not stealing because they have written an ordinance.
As I said before, we all want beautiful neighborhoods but what’s next? Well, I’ll tell you what’s next.
In some counties in Florida, if you drive a tow truck, it’s illegal to park it at your house. That’s right, you can drive a Dodge Ram diesel truck home, but not if has a business name on the door because commercial vehicles are “loud” according to county officials. That’s right, even the Ford Escort commercial vehicles fall under this “noise prevention” ordinance.
Some counties have also forbidden all boats and RV’s from residential neighborhoods as well. If you own any of these you must pay a storage facility to store them for you, and you must transport them someplace else if you need to work on them.
The city and county officials that come up with these ridicules solutions are short sighted, selfish, and are treating the symptoms instead of the root problem.
The reason there are so many junk vehicles sitting around is there is no easy cost effective way to get rid of them. But instead of working toward that solution they enact a law that negatively affects all people.
I say all people because even if these laws don’t directly affect you now, they are eroding our rights as Americans. Private property is no longer private, and you don’t really own anything.
If left unchecked, these same officials will eventually try to regulate the color of your house and height of your lawn. Oh… they already do that.
Bill, I lived in a town like that in NJ called The Villas in Cape May County. I had a tow truck that I bought a 12 ton 10 wheeler and I parked out on the road but no-one said anything about it, I sold it later. But I had a Ford stationwagon that I bought from a guy that needed a trans. I had it in my yard with no plates on it waiting to work on it when I got the money to buy a used trans. Well the PD came by and said he had a complain about it. Now he knew me from when I was a cop a couple of years ago in Woodbine,NJ. I told him that I was going to get it running and drive it. He asked if I had a old set of plates to put on it and he would report that it was a registered vehicle. I did. I asked him what the! He said come here and check my sheet, he said senior citizens that have nothing to do ride around complaining, the house next to me was cxharged with needing a paint job that paint was peeling and the grass was a 1 1/2 to high. He also had houses with a picket fence missing a board and little sh-T like that. Unbelievable. My boss a head mechanic for Liesure Line Bus company has a company truck he drives home every day when it was time for a new one the community had to know what he was getting and they voted down three vehicles and could be a truck and couldn't have company name on it. He talked them into a Ford Explorer and had to have magnetic signs made.
I'm lucky I live in a trailer park and they let me have a tow truck but when I bought home the 1950 ford truck it was in so bad of shape they made me put a cover over it until it was presentable. But otherwise the guys pretty easy. But it's getting harder and harder to find a place where you can do what you want on your own property anymore.
Wow, that's crazy! I guess that proves my point.

I lived in a government housing project for many years. I parked my very large tow truck there. No one gave me any problems for 6 years. All the neighbors knew who I was and that I would not tow their vehicles out of the project unless they called for me. A new management came in and did nothing but gripe about my truck.
I moved to another neighborhood and the first thing the neighbors wanted to know if I intended to park that thing there every day. Of course! How else would I get to a PD in time. They griped until I finally parked it two blocks away. Can you imagine trying to get up in a hurry, get dressed at 3 am to run a PD and have to walk more than 2 blocks in the snow or rain and still check your map for the location and get there within the 20 min. limit? And of course the PD is always on the other of town!
I did get sweet revenge though......
The management that did all that griping got her car towed for No Insurance. And just guess who got to tow her away?
That's a great story. Makes you believe in karma.....
So, i was thinking about building a house around me, a cult is what I had in mind. I can teach my children how to shot just in case folks cross the line. LOL I'm just playing but, I did think about doing this!!
Why can't folks just mind there own business. What ever happen to the children of tomorrow. If the older folks keep doing this, I see the crime rate going threw the roof. Thats a thought for ya....
I'll come join your cult!
I have a crap load of guns too!

Me too, I'll join I also have alot of guns. Could you see it as a movie idea. Something like the one MadMax movie where the people had the underground water. We would be rouge tow truck drivers with souped up trucks that leave the protected compound and scoup up cars and trucks and drag them back to the compound and terrorize the community. lol

Yea! We'll put huge nitrous injection systems on our trucks and drag 50ft of cable behind the truck to take out other cars on the road.
Antman will be our leader, and he'll stand on the hood as we drive. Where can we find a midget with no teeth? (oh... sorry, wrong movie)
