We cut out the 24 hour towing and closed on sunday new hours 6 am 8 pm monday- friday saturday 6am / 3pm
Do you tow on any rotation lists? many of the rotations in my area require me to be available 24 hours.
that sure would be nice though!
I think it is just great for you to take a day off. i wish more operators would do the same. the stress of running so hard and the difficulty of having any home life or life at all would be more tolerable. especially during the holiday season, which is stressfull enough by its-self. a toast to you!
We tow for the msp (maryland state police) and with them you have to be on call 24 hours a day. for anyone else that calls we ask them if it needs to be tow at night or on sunday and if it does than it will be an extra $30.00 charge.

i think a mandatory surcharge should be applied for any after hours and weekend towing NO MATTER where you are and what the problem is. if i have to go out after 5 on a week night, add 33% to the bill.
We run private 24hrs 7 days and for motorclubs we have varied schedules so that we can do maintenance on trucks. We give ourselves one day off a week. We are only two trucks now but if business keeps up that will have to change.
Hey, I like that rollbar. Very cool!
A day off ? Never! 24hrs you bet.Stressed only when I`m not ROLLING
Call me CRAZY I`v said it before I`d do it for FREE ! Good thing I don`t have to.
Right now i'm only gonna run daylight hours until things get moving then i'll run a 24hr.operation.and run my a-- off.

Hmmm old thread.
My first couple years (doing roadside service) I ran 24/7. The crazy thing was I would go out at 1 am for a Motor Club, but not for the public.
Now I'm 1 guy, 1 rollback tow truck. About 60% Motor Club, 40% retail. Hours are effectively 9am to 9pm, but will vary depending on my mood, what I have to do, and if I have my boots off already.
If I had to pay a driver, I'd be closed Sundays and Holidays (and nights). Just not enough work to cover costs. That's from the standpoint of a single owner / operator. Obviously a larger company on rotation would need to run 24/7 and could make money on it.
